Located at Wilson Airport just outside Nairobi CBD, Aero Club of East Africa was founded on July 31, 1927 with a mission to “promote, encourage and regulate aeronautics in Kenya”, and the club also serves an advisory role to governmental organizations. From 1964 to the late 1970s, Aero Club of East Africa organized annual flying safaris with members of the Kenya Air Force. Today, Aero Club of East Africa continues to celebrate aviation in Kenya by providing pilots, engineers and enthusiasts a place to gather and share stories and knowledge. The club also offers basic flying instruction and hosts competitions, air shows, crop spraying and skydiving demonstrations, safety seminars, navigation training and much more, as well as serving as a voice for the aviation community in matters related to safety and other aviation-related issues. A tour of the club will take you inside many of the most prominent structures used by the club, such as the Secretary’s House that was built in 1956, hangar, squash courts, Daddy Probyn Bar and many other historical facilities.
